Granny Squares
I found the technique a little confusing at first (I don't do a lot of crochet) but once I got my head around it, it's so simple!
You will need:
Step One
Using your first color (A) make a chain of 6 and join in a circle with a slip stitch
Step Two
Make a chain of 3 (counts as first treble). Work 2 more trebles in the ring
*2ch, 3 treble in ring*
Repeat this twice more then join with a slip stitch to the first 3 chain made at the beginning of the round. Break off A and fasten securely
Complete first round |
Working round the ring |
Step Three
Switch to your second color (B)Join B in to any corner space with a slip stitch and chain 3 (again counts as your first treble)- 2tr, 2ch, 3tr all in to the same space. This creates your first corner
Join on color B |
First corner |
*1ch, work 3tr, 2ch, 3tr all in to next corner space*
Repeat this twice more then join with a slip stitch to the first 3 chain made at the beginning of the round. Break off B and fasten securely.
Step Four
Switch to your next color (C)
Join C in to any corner space with a slip stitch and chain 3 (first treble) - 2tr, 2ch, 3tr all in to the same space.
**1ch, 3tr in to next space (the one along the straight edge of your square)
1ch, work 3tr, 2ch, 3tr all in to next corner space**
Repeat between ** and ** until you complete all sides of the square. Join with a slip stitch to the first 3 chain made at the beginning of the round then break off C and fasten securely.
